The Division for Community Engagement and Equal Opportunity is committed to a broad range of efforts that enrich the student, faculty, staff, and public experience of and with UVA. Fundamentally we believe that it will be through the meaningful partnerships of faculty, students, staff, and our neighbors (locally and beyond) that allow us to effectively put our collective knowledge, resources, and skills toward solving the most critical and enduring problems of our time.
The Community Excellence Student Award is intended to support registered UVA student organizations (CIOs) seeking to contribute to community building and constructive dialogue aligned with the mission of the University.
Awards are capped at $3,000 per organization per academic year. Funding must support programs or events that:
- Are open to all
- Include a genuine partnership with another CIO
- Enhance UVA community engagement based on our institutional values: honor, integrity, trust, respect, and/or freedom of expression
Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis throughout the academic year.
