UVA Faculty & Staff Dialogue Cohort Fall 2025
Are you passionate about fostering understanding, building respectful communities, and engaging in meaningful conversations across differences? We invite you to be part of a UVA Faculty and Staff Constructive Dialogue Cohort — a space for faculty and staff to explore different perspectives, strengthen communication skills, and cultivate a culture of respect and collaboration. Let’s learn, listen, and grow together.
Spots are limited — sign up to reserve your place! Lunch will be provided at each session.
Cohort members will complete the Constructive Dialogue Institute’s online course Perspectives and participate in three in-person sessions from 12 – 1:15 PM on November 5th, 19th, and December 3rd, 2025.

Task Force Recommends Steps To Enhance Climate for Religious Minorities
A group of University of Virginia faculty, staff and students tasked with examining the climate for Jewish, Muslim and other religious communities on Grounds has delivered a report to University leaders detailing several findings and recommendations.
President Jim Ryan and Provost Ian Baucom formed the Task Force on Religious Diversity and Belonging in December in the wake of the Oct. 7 Hamas attacks on Israel and the ensuing war in Gaza.

Enabling Difficult Conversations: Tarek El-Ariss and Susannah Heschel on Israel-Palestine
Join us to hear Tarek El-Ariss, James Wright Professor and Chair of Middle Eastern Studies At Dartmouth College, and Susannah Heschel, Professor and Chair of Jewish Studies at Dartmouth College. They will discuss their co-taught course at Dartmouth and their larger perspectives on how to enable difficult conversations on Israel and Palestine on colllege campuses.

Q&A: "How Can We Build a Sense of Belonging at UVA?"
The value of cultivating a sense of community and belonging — on college campuses, at work, at home and in our other communities — has emerged as an important area of research. Some of the top scholars and practitioners doing work in that growing field came to the University of Virginia on April 3 for “Inclusive Futures: Belonging in Higher Education and Beyond,” a one-day conference hosted by the University of Virginia.
